Microbiome Balancing – Research

Alex Zaharakis is a grateful husband and father of two beautiful children. His interest in the microbiome is driven by his son’s regressive autism at 17 months after a culmination and spark of timely medical insults, several of which were microbiome focused.

Alex has devoted his spare time and efforts to researching and learning about the microbiome, the boundaries of microbiome testing, sequencing, and intervention helping other parents navigate the biomedical and microbiome issues experienced in autism to further develop and improve outcomes.

Alex Zaharakis is a licensed and board-certified Radiation Oncology Physicist. He is a microbiome researcher that has created a gut-balancing model used by several doctors and practitioners. He provides microbiome analysis using his software and model to members of his Facebook group who wish to participate in gut balancing. While over 150 individuals have participated directly, and over 200 other individuals through trained practitioners, Alex is currently providing analysis for participants in the Flight Study, a longitudinal type intervention for children with medical issues, which he has helped to raise money for.

Alex is currently collaborating with an Autistic Research group that has focused on nutritional supplements, dysbiosis, and the efficacy of Microbiota Transfer Therapy in the treatment of dysbiosis in autism.  He is currently enrolled in a functional medicine practitioner program with the American Academy of Functional Health.

His Active projects include the validation of his own pipeline for fungal and 16s bacterial analysis to provide more complete and expansive insight for stool testing.
